Companion App Troubleshooting

Solutions to issues you may encounter while recording, streaming, or calibrating with the Aria Companion App.

To report a problem to the Aria team from inside the app, see Companion App Rage Shake.

Streaming

Streaming Not Allowed

Streaming is not allowed with these glasses.

The glasses are not provisioned for streaming.

Solution: Contact AriaOps@meta.com with your device serial number.

Streaming via Wi-Fi is incompatible with Wi-Fi scanning

Streaming via Wi-Fi is incompatible with Wi-Fi scanning.

Please choose a recording profile without Wi-Fi scanning.

A profile the session is using enables Wi-Fi scanning, which cannot run at the same time as Wi-Fi streaming.

The message says "recording profile" because the app uses one profile format throughout, but the profile to change depends on the session type: for a Streaming session it is the Streaming Profile, and for a Recording & Streaming session check the Recording Profile as well.

Solution: Select a profile that does not enable Wi-Fi scanning. See Recording Profiles.

Unable to connect to Wi-Fi

Unable to connect to Wi-Fi. Please check your Wi-Fi settings and try again.

The glasses could not join the network.

Solution: Open the glasses details screen from the dashboard and re-check the Wi-Fi setup. Confirm the network is reachable and that the glasses are in range.

A session will not stop

Streaming Stop Error — Press the glasses' Capture button to stop.

Or, when the request timed out:

Streaming Stop Timed Out — Glasses may still stop streaming after an additional delay. If not, press the glasses' Capture button to stop.

The app could not confirm that the glasses stopped the session.

Solution: Press the Capture button on the glasses to stop the session directly. If that does not work, use Report in the alert to send a report.

Eye Tracking Calibration

Calibration Unsuccessful

We were unable to process your eye gaze data.

The calibration ran but the gaze data could not be processed.

Solution: Check that the glasses are well seated on the face, that no face coverings are in the way, and that the lighting is even and moderate — avoid facing a window, a bright light, or a reflective surface. Then run the calibration again. See Eye Tracking Calibration for the full requirements.

Face Not Detected

If the circle is empty, the phone did not detect a face. Please check phone camera and lighting.

The phone's face tracking cannot see your face.

Solution: Hold the phone vertically at arm's length, as you would to take a selfie, and make sure your face is evenly lit and unobstructed.
